The type of personal information I collect
I collect and process the following information:

Full names and contact details including email addresses, phone numbers and postal addresses of those I am booked to conduct a ceremony for.

Details of the ceremony such as type, date, time and venue.

Ceremony-related information provided voluntarily.

Names and sometimes email addresses and/or phone numbers of any friends or family involved in these ceremonies.

For weddings - photographs of you, your venue and some suppliers.
How I collect this information

Correspondence via my social media platforms (including but not limited to Instagram, Facebook and TikTok).

Telephone or in-person conversations.

Any paper correspondence you provide me.

How I use the personal information I have
The personal information I process is provided to me either directly by you, or via Humanist Ceremonies Scotland, for the following reasons:

Planning, preparing, and delivering the ceremony.

Communicating with you regarding ceremony arrangements.

Post ceremony marketing via social media platforms (with explicit permission).
Data Sharing
For legal marriages, I will share part of your information with Humanist Ceremonies Scotland who in turn will share it with the National Records of Scotland in order to obtain authorisation to solemnise the marriage. This would be the full names of the parties involved, as well as the date and venue..
All finalised ceremony scripts are shared with Humanist Ceremonies Scotland in order that your ceremony can be delivered by another authorised celebrant in the unlikely event that I am unable to, e.g. in the case of an emergency.

Names, photos and stories are shared via social media platforms for marketing purposes (with explicit permission). These platforms have their own privacy policies. Personal information such as addresses or contact details are never shared on social media platforms.
I do not share, sell, or pass your personal information to any other third
parties, unless compelled to by law.
Data Security
All personal information is securely stored on my personal computer. This is password protected and accessible only by me for the purposes of your ceremony.

Any photos captured on my mobile phone are deleted once shared via social media platforms.

Any information shared via social media platforms can be deleted at any time.
Data Retention
Your information is kept only for as long as is necessary to provide my services, after which it is safely deleted.
Your Rights
You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal data at any time by contacting me.
How to complain
If you have any concerns about my use of your personal information, you can make a complaint to me using any of the contact details at the start of this policy.
You can also contact the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) if you are unhappy with how I have used your data. The ICO exists to ensure compliance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018.
